The "Element Solution" filter is used to convert the data specified in the grid nodes into the data specified for the cells by calculating the average value for all nodes belonging to one end element. This allows you to get one characteristic value for each element. The filter works with any types of finite elements (volume, shell or beam), even if the elements have a complex topology or nodes in common with other types of grids. As a result of the filter operation, each element it is colored in one solid color corresponding to its calculated average value. The averaging properties depend on the type of data being processed. For continuous physical quantities (stresses , deformations, temperatures) the arithmetic mean is calculated.
The principle of operation:
The exact values (for example, the stress tensor) at the integration points inside the element are calculated;
The resulting values are extrapolated to the nodes of this element. At this stage, the result is of the "non-mediated" type. Important clarification: in one geometric node belonging to several neighboring elements, several values are fixed (one from each element);
When selecting the "Element Solution" filter, all extrapolated node values belonging to one specific element are taken and their arithmetic mean is calculated: the sum of all nodes of the element divided by the number of nodes of the element.
As a result, each element receives a single constant value, which is considered representative of the center of this element.
