Selective Laser Melting

In CAE Fidesys 9.0, the SLM option has been added based on integration with the IAP RAS computational core.

Selective Laser Melting) - this is an advanced technology of additive manufacturing (3D printing), which allows you to create monolithic metal parts of high strength and complexity by layer-by-layer melting of powder material using a powerful laser. This method is often referred to as "growing" metals, as it allows you to bring to life geometry that cannot be obtained using traditional methods (milling or casting).

The classical formulation of the Stefan problem on a phase transition with a movable boundary:

When numerically solving the Stefan problem in its classical formulation, it is necessary to explicitly trace the phase boundary. The shapes of the regions of each phase change over time, and their calculation is a separate non-trivial task.
