Solver Settings when Calculating Effective Properties

Solver settings when calculating effective material properties can in some cases, provide a more accurate or faster solution to the system linear algebraic equations (SLAEs) arising in such calculations than default solution parameters. These settings are made from the Command Panel by selecting (Mode - Calculation Settings, Calculation Settings - Effective Properties, Effective Properties - Solver):

In the Method drop-down list, select the solution method SLAUE: direct (LU decomposition) or iterative; by default the method is selected automatically. If you select the iterative method, the Command Bar becomes the following form:

Convergence of iterative methods for solving SLAEs (one of them is Uzawa's method) depends on the conditionality of the system's stiffness matrix. For To improve convergence, you can use preconditioning:

For the iterative method, you must set the group Parameters in the input windows iterative solversolution convergence parameters or leave default values.

Then click Apply and Start Calculation.
